Effective 11 September 2026 · Applies to Calcora for iOS and Android

What Calcora does with your information — which is, very nearly, nothing.

The short version. Calcora has no account and we run no servers. Your calculations never leave your device and we never see them. The free version shows advertising supplied by Google, which is the one part of the app that involves anybody else — everything about it is set out below, and a subscription removes it entirely.

What we collect

We collect nothing. We operate no servers, no accounts and no analytics. There is no identifier for you, your device or your installation that reaches us, because there is nowhere for one to go. We could not tell you how many people use Calcora, let alone who.

That is a statement about us. Google, as our advertising supplier, does collect things, and the next section is about exactly that.

Advertising

The free version of Calcora shows occasional full-screen ads between calculations, served by Google AdMob. We do not choose which ads you see and we receive no information about you from Google — what we get is a count of how many were shown.

To serve an ad, Google's software on your device uses:

  • An advertising identifier — the ID for Advertisers on iOS, the Advertising ID on Android. It is a per-device number you can reset or switch off at any time in your phone's settings.
  • Rough location, derived from your IP address. Calcora never asks for or receives your precise location, and has no location permission at all.
  • Device and app information — model, operating system version, and that the ad was shown inside Calcora.

None of that passes through us and none of it is joined to anything you calculate. Google's handling of it is governed by its own policies, which you can read at policies.google.com.

Personalised ads, and how to say no. On iOS you will be asked, once, whether Calcora may track you across other companies' apps and websites. Saying no is the default and costs you nothing — you will still see ads, they will simply be chosen without that history. On Android the same choice lives in Settings, under Google, Ads. And a Calcora subscription removes advertising altogether, which is the most complete answer to this section.

Subscriptions and purchases

Paying for Calcora is handled entirely by Apple or Google. We never see your card, your name or your billing address — the store tells us only that a purchase exists and whether it is still active, and that answer is read by the app on your own device. There is no billing service in the middle, no account to create, and no identifier for your purchase sent anywhere by us.

Manage or cancel a subscription from your App Store or Google Play account, not from us — we could not cancel it for you even if you asked.

What stays on your device

Everything you do in Calcora is written to a database inside the app's own private storage, which no other app can read:

WhatWhy it is kept
Calculations and their resultsSo History can show them and you can reopen one
Tapes, templates, variables and chainsThey are documents — losing them on close would make them useless
Reminders you createTo schedule the notification and show it in the list
Exchange rates you fetchedSo conversion keeps working with no signal
Your settings — theme, accent, language, Home layoutSo the app opens the way you left it

None of it is transmitted anywhere. Deleting the app deletes all of it. You can also clear your history from Settings → History, and delete any individual calculation, tape, template, variable, chain or reminder at any time.

Exchange rates

Tapping Get rates or Refresh on the currency converter sends a request to https://open.er-api.com/v6/latest, a public exchange-rate service. Calcora ships with no rates at all, which is why this exists: converting money at a number compiled months ago would be worse than saying we do not have one.

The request contains the three-letter code of the currency you are converting from, and nothing else. No identifier, no device information, no calculation, no request body. As with any request over the internet, the service necessarily sees the IP address it came from; its own privacy practices apply to that and are outside our control. We send it nothing that would let anyone connect that request to you.

On iOS, Calcora also asks the App Store once per launch whether a newer version exists. That request contains the app's own identifier and nothing else.

Notifications

Reminders are scheduled by your operating system, on your device. No notification is ever sent from a server, and the app obtains no push token — there is no mechanism by which we could send you anything.

Permission is requested the first time you create a reminder, never at launch. Declining it leaves the rest of the app working normally.

Permissions, and what they are for

PermissionUsed for
InternetFetching exchange rates and serving ads
NotificationsShowing a reminder you created
VibrationHaptic feedback on a key press
Run at startup (Android)Re-scheduling your reminders after the device restarts

Camera, microphone, precise location, contacts, photos and external storage are blocked in the app's manifest, not merely unused: the app could not request them without being rebuilt.

When you contact us or share the app

  • Report an issue and Request a feature open your own email app with a subject already filled in. Nothing is sent until you send it, and what you write comes to calcoraapp@gmail.com. We use it to answer you and to fix the thing you told us about.
  • Rate and Share open the App Store, Google Play, or your own sharing sheet. What happens there is governed by Apple's, Google's or that app's own terms, not ours.

Children

Calcora is suitable for all ages and we collect no personal information from anyone, of any age. Advertising shown to users under the applicable age in your country is configured as non-personalised, which is what the stores require and what we would do anyway.

Your rights

Data-protection law gives you rights to access, correct, export and erase personal data held about you. We hold none, so the practical answer to each is the same and it is already in your hands: the data is on your device, you can see and change all of it in the app, and deleting the app erases it. There is no request to make to us, because we have nothing of yours to produce.

For the advertising identifier, which is the one thing that leaves the device: reset or disable it in your phone's settings, or take a subscription and stop the ads entirely.

Changes

If Calcora ever starts collecting anything itself, this document will say so before that version ships, and the change will be described rather than quietly folded in.
